Combined Vision System (CVS) Helps Pilots Avoid Crash Landings

Though having high technologies and advanced equipment, air crashing occurs. When a plane is going to land, a combination of radio signals and high-intensity lighting shows the pilot exactly where the runway is, even at night or in fog. But smaller commercial planes don’t have those technology. The pilots of those craft have to rely on existed instruments, along with their cockpit window view during landing. As not having high technologies, it may face a fatal situation in bad weather. In 2011, 4 commercial jets crashed into terrain or an obstacle. 140 passengers and crew died. The accidents are called ‘controlled flight into terrain.’

James E. Webb is the person to whom NASA has chosen to bestow. And why not? He is the man who worked continuously on developing and upgrading his projects. He was a former NASA administrator. To honor him, the name of ‘Next Generation Space Telescope’ (NGST) was changed and renamed as James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in September 2002. In short, it is called ‘Webb.’ JWST is a large infrared telescope with a 6.5-meter (21.3 feet) diameter primary mirror. Webb will be able to study every phase in the history of our Universe.

CleanSpace One – ‘Janitor Satellite’ Designed To Clean Space Junk

Swiss scientists are preparing an $11 million satellite called ‘CleanSpace One’. It is being built by the Swiss Space Center at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne. The purpose of this ‘Janitor Satellite’ is to clean up space. Its target is to derelict satellites 430 miles up that threaten our communications and information networks. It’s specially designed to tackle the 17,000 mph (approximately 27359 kmph) mess around our planet created by human beings.

President Obama Planning To Cut Funding To Mars Program

In what may be a major blow to NASA’s programs regarding Mars and Jupiter, President Obama is contemplating slashing the funding for Mars program as much as by 20 percent. And this decrease in funding may continue over the next four years. This has been reported by the the Washington Post. For the record, the next budget will be unveiled on Monday, so space enthusiasts must brace themselves for some bad news.
