TomTom’s Go Live navigation service is more useful with advanced travel-specific apps by Yelp, TripAdvisor, Expedia, and Twitter all from the comfort of its 5-inch touchscreen. Using the Go Live 1535M portable GPS unit, Canadian drivers can now access the company’s signature HD Traffic feature to get real-time routing based on current congestion. The GO LIVE 1535 M combines the most comprehensive road and traffic information from TomTom HD Traffic with access to real-time information through travel-related apps. It’s going to be available at retail stores and from online retailers in October 2011 for around $269 with a free 12-month starter subscription to Live offerings.

Nokia To Cut Thousands Of Jobs

Nokia’s struggles to compete with Apple’s iPhone and the Google Android platform continue to take their toll on the beleaguered Finnish handset maker, which announced on Wednesday that it is laying off 3,500 employees and all employees of Nokia factory in Jucu, about 2,200 people were called on Thursday for a work session with the participation and leadership of Nokia Europe. Nokia’s plan this layoff is to focus its manufacturing operations in Asia where it has the most demand and the company also says it’ll review its production operations at Salo in Finland, Komarom in Hungary and Reynosa in Mexico……………..

Study Reveals 41% Of US Mobile Phone Users Want iPhone 5

According to a new study from mobile advertising firm inMobi, 39% of UK and 41% of US mobile phone users would buy Apple‘s highly anticipated iPhone 5, but before you chalk this up to the power of the Apple brand, here’s another statistic for you: if Apple only releases an update to iPhone 4 (presumably called iPhone 4S), that figure drops to 12% of UK mobile users. The study further finds that over 50% of those users will make the purchase within the first six months of the iPhone 5 launch and the study finds that consumers are most hopeful for improved battery life; increased processing speed; higher-quality screen resolution; and stronger phone service in the rumored Apple smartphone…………………
