If Tim Cook Stays With Apple Through 2021, He Gets 1 Million Shares

Apple has awarded Tim Cook 1 million shares in the Cupertino tech giant, which at Friday’s closing stock price of $383.58 a share is worth about $383 million and Apple announced the stock bonus in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that also offers up more information on the contract that Apple has signed with Cook. The announcement of the share transfer will put an end to speculation that Mr Cook had been appointed as an interim figure and he is likely to stay with the company for at least 10 years…………….

Apple Kills 99-Cent iTunes TV Show Rentals From iTunes

Apple has removed the ability to rent TV shows from both iTunes and its Apple TV, taking away what was just last year one of the major advertised selling points of the $99 streaming-centric set-top box, introduced the ability to rent certain episodes of television programs for $0.99 each last September. Apple recently flipped the switch on streaming purchases for its relatively new second generation Apple TV and it appears 99-cent rentals didn’t move the needle, so we’ll wait and see what the folks from Cupertino have up their sleeve next……………

Apple Moveing A6 Production From Samsung

Apple is said to be already meeting with chip suppliers as it looks toward production of its next-generation A6 mobile processor in 2012 and moving its chip production away from Samsung and looking to TSMC for foundry services and SPIL for back-end services. TSMC and Apple allegedly started running trials for this new chip, expected to be ready for mass production later this year and the move to TSMC has been a major blow to Samsung, the sole supplier of A4 and A5 processors thus far………….
