Dell Latitude St Business Tablet Now Official

Dell has announced a Windows-based tablet for business customers, focused on security and manageability through integration with existing IT infrastructures, which is the Dell Latitude ST, available from 1 November, is based on an Intel Atom processor and runs Windows 7, rather than Android on which some rival tablet devices are based. The new tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz Atom Z670 processor, features 2GB of DDR2 RAM. 128 GB of SSD should help in speedy boot-ups and load times and the device is compatible with VMware and Citrix virtualization. An upgrade to the tablet-friendly Windows 8 isn’t currently in the cards, though the company says that it will release Windows 8 tablets at some point and Dell didn’t mention a price, but considering HP’s Slate 500 tablet competes in the same (small) market, expect an MSRP below $1000………………..

Android apps can now run on your PC via BlueStacks, has just hit the alpha stage, meaning a test version of it is now available for anyone to download and the basic player lets you run several preloaded apps, install up to 26 others, and sync apps from an Android phone to your PC. For now the App Player supports only Windows PCs and the company is working on a Mac version but concedes that it may be a while before one is available. BlueStacks is also busy cooking up a premium version of the App Player, which as yet has no price tag and BlueStacks announces cloud connect service, which connects Android Phones and Windows PCs…………..

Windows 8 Will Reduces Memory Usage

Microsoft aims to reduce heavy data usage for Windows users with the new Windows 8 operating system and the Microsoft Corporation has altered the memory system in Windows 8. In the latest Building Windows 8 blog, Bill Karagounis, group program manager for Microsoft’s Performance team, detailed some of the tricks that the company has employed in the new OS to optimize the use of memory and Windows applications can reserve multiple chunks of system memory, not just what for they need now but what for they may need in the future. Yet another trick was to find various core but low-level components that have been in Windows for almost 20 years and the new memory optimization should coax better performance out of PCs with an ample supply of RAM but also benefit those with only 1 or 2 gigabytes of memory………………..

Motorola Rugged ET1 Android Tablet

Motorola has unveiled the ET1, a tablet created with the enterprise in mind and the tablet was constructed to offer more security and also sturdiness than a consumer tablet would need. It also features multi-user login options and enterprise applications for workforce and inventory management and the 1.4-pound ET1 features a 7-inch touchscreen and front and rear cameras. The ET1 boasts only WiFi connectivity, though Motorola Solutions’ Sheldon Safir says a Wide Area Network version is in the works and the manufacturer didn’t offer a specific price, but Safir tells Computer World that bulk purchases should cost less than $1,000 by the time the slab hits the market…………….
