AT&T has been aggressively pushing out data plans and offering for its users. The carrier has now announced that all its Mobile Share customers will get free, unlimited text, picture and video messaging starting from Feb 28.
This offer will allow Mobile Share users to send text, picture and video messages internationally without incurring data costs. However, there are certain exceptions to this offer. If you use any other messaging services or applications such as Viber, WhatsApp etc, you will incur additional data charges.
The offer will be valid for messages sent to 120 countries. Moreover, AT&T has also launched a new international calling plan called ‘World Connect ValueSM.’ The plan is geared at such AT&T customers who have a global circle of friends. The plan will significantly subsidize international calling rates for the users, offering calling rates as low as one cent per minute for countries including Mexico and Canada.
It is intriguing to note that ever since T-Mobile came up with its ‘Un-carrier‘ plan, aiming to disrupt the wireless industry by offering consumer-friendly packages and launching aggressive marketing campaigns, other carriers have started offering more enticing data packages. It remains to be seen how this new offering from AT&T fares with its consumers.
