AT&T has sent out invitations to the press about a July 16 event. The telecom operator teased that it will divulge “what’s next in wireless” at the event.
So, what AT&T could unveil on July 16? Majority of opinion run in favor of a possible announcement of LTE-Advanced network rollout. AT&T has already rolled out LTE networks in 300 cities; lagging behind Verizon by a mark of 200 cities, but offering higher average download speeds. The teleco is likely to take that further with the launch of its LTE-Advanced network on July 16, and a fuller rollout in 2014.
Some reporters have repeatedly tried to dig deeper and find out what would AT&T unveil on July 16? But, AT&T has been very quiet about it. One thing they did disclose – the event won’t be held in a city, like some recent smartphone launches.
There is also another school of thought on this matter. They believe, AT&T may unveil Voice over LTE (VoLTE) following Verizon’s recent plans to rollout the feature nationawide on 2014.
To find out, we have to wait.
