It seems that opening up brand retail stores has become a growing trend by consumer tech companies; a profitable trend first started by Apple and then followed by Microsoft. Following that trend, a rumor is swirling that search giant Google is planning to open several retail stores in the United States by 2013.
The 9to5Google blog has revealed the news by citing an unnamed source. Speculations are, Google will be launching its own retail stores across key metropolitan areas in the United States ahead of the holiday season this year. The source also mentioned that these stores will be used to show off Google branded products like Nexus phones and tablets as well as computers running on Chrome OS. Google will also use these stores to help consumers solve their problems related to Android phones.
When Google was asked to say something about the rumor, the company instantly denied to comment.
