People are comfortable accessing internet anytime and anywhere they want and for that the best option is to avail mobile devices for the purpose. This is the main reason why web traffic through mobile has increased 35% within a year. According to a report by Chitika, since July 2011, web traffic is on an upward trend. During the last week of February this year, incredible 10.55% of the entire web traffic was coming from mobile phones.
This is a 34.44% increase from the last report. However, Chitika has measured web access through mobiles from certain regions and not around the world. Never the less, the report does reflect on how mobile users are going and through mobile devices use of internet. The fact that web traffic through mobiles is increasing is opening further grounds for mobile advertisements. Brands can take a step into maximizing their strategies for targeting audiences through mobiles ads.
With the increase in sales of the smartphones and tablets, mobile web traffic was bound to see an upward trend. Just hypothetically speaking, if internet users were to get web access either through their wrist watches or through their car’s dashboards more often, then it would also start up a new trend of web traffic increase, because users are more comfortable in accessing internet in the most direct and engaging manner which both smartphones and tablets give them a chance at. Though the traditional PC access of the internet is still strong, because not everyone owns a smartphone or a tablet as yet, but this might change within the next 5 to 10 years. As of now, web traffic from PCs is 89.45% of the pie.
For computer manufacturers to sustain their market, internet users are a main component. Even laptops can take place of PCs and that shift is a step further from the future predicted in science-fiction novels and movies, where everything is mechanical, robotic and computerized. In the graph as shown in the picture, there is a certain pattern of behavior which could be made out. Internet accessing through mobile devices reach 20% of all their pie between 8AM and 10AM. This is early morning, which means people often begin their day checking into their various online accounts and emails at ease with their smartphones and tablets. With the increase in these mobile devices in the near future, web traffic would share a larger portion of the pie of internet users.
