Philips Made World’s First Flat Light Bulb That Lasts For 23 Years!

Every light bulb has a finite life span, meaning has the ability to glare. If you are lucky, your light bulb can exist like 5 or 10 years or more, which is very rare. But for the first time, Dutch diversified technology company Philips has made a new flat light bulb named ‘SlimStyle bulb‘ that can last for 23 years!

The SlimStyle bulb is the world’s first of its kind. It lights up instantly. The bulb has a round shape to the front, but it looks flat when viewed from the side. The bulb is covered in rubber and has LED lights arranged in a horseshoe shape on the inside.

In comparison to existing LED and halogen light bulbs that last for around 10,000 hours and 1,000 hours, respectively, Philips’ SlimStyle LED bulb is “more efficient” than rest of the bulbs in the world, lasts 25 times longer than a traditional 60W incandescent bulb, but provides a similar output.

Mike Simpson, technical and design director at Philips UK has said, “The new design is expected to make LED lighting more cost-effective for the householder.”

Philips has claimed that each bulb reduces energy consumption by 85 per cent, bringing electricity savings of £80 over its lifetime. Besides, the company has proudly mentioned that its SlimStyle LED bulbs are able to lit up for 25,000 hours and last for 23 years, if averagely lit up 3 hours a day.

Philips believes that its LED innovation will replace incandescent bulbs in the coming years and even overtake energy-efficient halogen bulbs. However, each SlimStyle light bulb is being sold for $10 (£6) in the U.S. The bulbs will be made available in UK, if sales are successful in the U.S.

First, the corporate scumbags around the world delayed the introduction of LED lighting to give them time to figure out how to make LEDs that break after a time, so they could have frequent repeat sales.

Now one of them goes and makes big claims of a 23 year life span, after first expending much effort on figuring out how to make LEDs, which normally never break go bad after a few thousand hours.

    Hypocrisy at its finest…
