This update resolves a rare issue where MacBook Air boots or wakes to a black screen or becomes unresponsive. This update is recommended for all 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air (late 2010) models.The MacBook Air EFI Update will update the EFI firmware on your notebook computer. Your computer’s power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source. When your MacBook Air restarts a gray screen will appear with a status bar to indicate the progress of the update. It will take several minutes for the update to complete. Do not disturb or shut off the power on your MacBook Air during this update.After this update has successfully completed, your Boot ROM Version will be: MBA31.0061.B01

i’ve updated but it still doesn’t work!!! It sucks, i find it goes to the black screen especially when i have a video on and shuts the cover. common apple give us a recall!!
My Air freeze was caused by a hibernation glitch fixed by a widget called “Deep Sleep 1.2” I have the SDD and 4 gigs of memory so that every time I close the lid the OS writes 4 gigs worth of what’s in memory to the SDD. Waking up would dump the 4 gig file back to memory. In my case this wouldn’t happen properly and the OS would freeze for a minute or two and then run like pure crap for five minutes. The Deep Sleep widget changes the sleep mode from hibernation to simple old fashioned sleep and the Air has been working perfectly since then.
