Oakley Has Been Working On Tech-Glasses For Quite Some Time

When Google finally unveiled its Project Glass and showed the world what it was up to, it was truly mesmerizing, at least in the beginning. So far, most of us had thought that this was the only project of its kind. However, the CEO of Oakley Inc. has now revealed that his company has been working on similar tech-equipped glasses for more than a decade!

The world is waiting for a next-generation tech to sweep it off its feet. Whereasa there was a lot of criticism heaped on the notion of Google glasses, it did attract rounds of applause too. And who knows it may eventually become the next big thing after smartphones once, and if, they are released.

Given the need of such connected devices in the future, it is understandable that Oakley has been working such glasses. According to CEO Colin Baden, ‘As an organization, we’ve been chasing this beast since 1997. Ultimately, everything happens through your eyes, and the closer we can bring it to your eyes, the quicker the consumer is going to adopt the platform.’

Initially, Oakley intends to target the athletes and provide them with tech-equipped glasses that will be very helpful for them. However, the company eventually intends to move out on to other applications of such a technology, ‘Obviously, you can think of many applications in the competitive field of sports. That’s the halo point of where we would begin, but certainly you can transcend that into a variety of other applications.’

Baden is also hopeful that Oakley will be able to do a lot better than other contemporaries when it comes to tech glasses or similar other ‘wearable’  products because, according to him, Oakley has been creating stylish products for quite some time and knows how to do it.
