Decide.com has been rather popular online hub which is visited by a lot of users. The primary purpose the website serves is to tell the consumers how the price of any product will fluctuate in the near future. Now, the website has launched a new feature called ‘Decide Score.’ The features aims at helping a consumer decide what to buy and when to buy it.
For long, user feedbacks and reviews have been the popular method for gauging what products are good and what aren’t. Amazon, for instance, has user reviews on nearly all of products and these reviews greatly affected the choices of the consumers.
However, folks at Decide.com believe that reviews are often biased and not exactly accurate. They are prone to subjective opinions. So, they are not very reliable. On the contrary, what Decide.com is doing is that it is congregating the user feedback, reviews, expert opinions and a lot more to aptly judge a product.
By combining and analysing all this data, a score from 1 to 100 is given to the products. This is what is being called the ‘Decide Score.’ According to the CEO of Decide.com, “We are stripping out the bias to return a subjective data-driven score. More and more people are going directly to Amazon to begin their search, but the problem is, they don’t give you a clear idea what the best products are.”
To make this score more valid and reliable, the company goes through huge amounts of data. To be exact, it sifts 200 terabytes of data as well as two million user reviews from online retailers. The professional opinion of 7,000 online reviewers is also gathered before allotting a score to a product.
The service has already been launched as a beta for some 22,000 consumer electronics. According to the CEO of the company, users who come to Decide.com rely on the website greatly to make their purchases. And thus, they wish to help these users buy the best product.
