Oculus Rift VR Tech Will Be Added To ‘Doom 4’

Soft innovator, John Carmack, was able to hype up the excitement surrounding the last release of Doom franchise by introducing Oculus Rift. It is originally a virtual reality display technology that naturally ramps up the gaming experience several notches. Carmack has created a special version of Doom 3 called ‘BFG Edition’ which incorporates this technology.

Naturally, when Carmack unveiled his plans with Doom 3 BFG edition, the whole notion of Oculus Rift VR technology was a hit with the gamers. His Kickstarted project has been able to raise a whopping $1 million so far!

The good news now is that this technology is also being added to ‘Doom 4’ now! According to Carmack, “I’m excited for once Doom 3 ships, and gets out there, I’ll put all this stuff into the Doom 4 platform, which will be nice to take our current top-of-the-line stuff and have that in virtual reality. I’m looking forward to doing that.”

Moreover, with Doom 4, Carmack is hopeful that the true potential of the Oculus rift could be realized. He says, “It’s going to be a fully supported feature on there, because I think I could justify — based on the response that we got from our 8-year-old re-release title on here, when we finally do end up giving demos on Doom 4, we’re gonna say, ‘Okay, here’s all this great stuff, run through all this stuff,’ everybody has a great time, and then at the end you can play it in virtual reality, and that’ll just put the stamp on everything. So I think I have good justification for my continued involvement in it.”

If you wish to be among those who would lay their hands on the much-touted Oculus rift VR display, don’t forget to reserve a unit for yourself at the Kickstarter page here. It’s going to cost you $300.
