Samsung Won’t Be Selling Displays To Apple Anymore

Samsung, one of Apple’s main component suppliers, will be cutting ties with the Cupertino company over the coming year. Apple will no longer be using displays manufactured by Samsung in their products. The two companies have already had a heated relationship of patent infringement wars forming left and right.

Over the years, Samsung has been a major supplier of displays and chip-sets within Apple products. Based off a Korea Times report, Apple will only discharge its display relationship — not its chip-set production.

A Samsung source was able to communicate: “We are unable to supply our flat-screens to Apple with huge price discounts. Samsung has already cut our portion of shipments to Apple and next year we will stop shipping displays.” So Apple was ultimately offering the bare-minimum amount of cash for displays and Samsung had no room for profit margins.

Lately though, Apple has relied on external sources like LG and Sharp to provide displays. Samsung was a major provider in years past, but that hasn’t been the case lately.
