Android spreads its wings further into the world. Qualcomm just released the information that the Snapdragon S4 Liquid mobile development platform (MDP) tablet has received an Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 upgrade. This move shouldn’t come as a big shock, since a short while ago at the central headquarters in San Diego – at the company’s industry analyst summit, Qualcomm showcased, to an audience of about 50 people, a prototype running Android 2.3 OS.
What this means is that this tablet will become the ultimate testing ground for developers who wish to try out their Android apps. The device also sports some impressive hardware, and could be every tech geek’s dream. From its long list of great features, we have to list the 10.1 inch 1280×768 display, two front-facing cameras which can shoot 1080p video. And if you thought two cameras were enough, you were wrong; on the back we find another set of two cameras meant for 3D video recording. There’s also an entire host of ports, sensors, radios, including an LTE radio. Oh, and it has 7 microphones. Unreal, right?
At this moment, there’s no information about the price of the device, but it is expected to come out and greet the world somewhere in the second half of 2012, so if you’d find yourself in need of a powerhouse and are a fan of Android Sandwiches, keep your eyes open for this new Qualcomm tablet. Coby could be stepping in also with Ice Cream Sandwich tablets. And if we take into account that high-resolution displays are expected for tablets in 2012, one must realize it will be a real tech battle!
