One of the key problems with Apple’s iOS is that it is very tightly closed. That is one of the reasons why iPhone users have been unable to enjoy the complete functionality of Google Glass. However, a Google employee has revealed that iPhone users will be able to use all the features on their Google Glass units soon enough.
This has been revealed by Frederic Lardinois who, in turn claims, that he was informed about it by a Google employee. According to this Google employee, the search giant is currently working on a solution for iOS users, so that they will be able to get full access to the features offered on Google Glass.
Among the features that iPhone using Google Glass owners are currently unable to utilize, is the turn-by-turn navigation. This feature is the highlight of Google Glass and lets you get directions right in front of your eyes. So far, iOS users are not able to get these directions when they connect their Google Glass units to the smartphone. Android users, on the other hand, are already enjoying this feature.
The Google employee hinted that Google may soon release a companion app for iOS users, so that they will be able to gain access to this feature. Although iOS wouldn’t let Google Glass gain access to the basic functionality of the smartphone, a companion app can at least ensure turn-by-turn navigation.
However, at the end of the day, iOS will remain a closed system. This essentially means that Google Glass will be able to utilize only a small portion of iOS’ potential and so, iPhone users won’t be able to get too much out of the cool, new gadget. Android users, on the other hand, are already enjoying a whole plethora of features on their Google Glass units.
