Google Glass To Get ‘Made In USA’ Label, But There’s A Twist

Google Glass is going to get the “Made in USA” label. Yes, that’s true; Google Glass will be assembled at a facility in Santa Clara, California. However, there is a twist. The assembling will be done by Foxconn.

The Financial Times has reported that Google Glass will be assembled by Taiwan based Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, in a facility in California. No doubt, Foxconn’s portfolio with some of the big names in the industry has helped in securing the deal. But the “small scale, high cost, and complexity of Glass” pressed the manufacturing facility to be located in the U.S.

The first set of Google Glass, nearly 8,000 units at $1,500 each, will be distributed soon to the winners. Sources confirmed that Google Glass will be available to general public by the end of this year.
