Apple fans everywhere are itching to know as much as they can about iPhone 5 before its unveiling in September. Many purported images of iPhone 5 and its accessories have surfaced during the past month. Now, 9to5Mac has published images of iPhone 5’s battery. The battery of iPhone 5 appears to be a bit thinner than its predecessor, with higher capacity.
The leaked images show, Apple iPhone 5 battery features a capacity of 1440 mAh, instead of 1430 mAh battery like iPhone 4S or 1420 mAh battery like iPhone 4. In short, the battery of iPhone 5 will have slightly higher capacity than its predecessor. The new battery will feature 3.8 voltage. The immediate predecessors of iPhone 5 (i.e. iPhone 4/4S) have 3.7 voltage. Compared to early iPhones (iPhone 4/4S), the new battery also has an increased watts-per-hour measurement. iPhone 4 has 5.25 wHr and iPhone 4S has 5.3 wHr. But, iPhone 5 will have 5.45 wHr. In fact, this is a proportional increase due to the increase from 1420/1430 mAh to 1440 mAh. According to the battery’s labeling, it seems that it was produced in June, 2012.
It’s expected that Apple iPhone 5 will be available from September along with Apple’s newest mobile operating system iOS 6. But, Apple executives, as always, haven’t confirmed any official release date yet.
