Dutchman Bart Jansen is an artist. He had a cat named Orville. Orville was killed by a car. After death, Jansen did not bury Orville or took it to a pet cemeteries. As he loved his cat so much that, so he wanted to keep it with him even after its death. “After a period of mourning,” an idea came up in his mind. He decided to turn his cat into a permanent piece of artwork as the ultimate tribute by transforming it into a flying helicopter. So, he gathered his cat’s stuffed and tanned body and later teamed up with a radio control helicopter expert Arjen Beltman to build a specially designed flying mechanism to attach to the cat. Four propellers were attached to each of its four paws. The Orvillecopter currently struggles to fly steadily. But the problem will be solved soon.

According to Jansen, ‘Orvillecopter’ is ‘half cat, half machine’. In fact Jansen said, “He(the cat) will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight.”

Orville was named after pioneering aviator Orville Wright. Jansen also mentioned that Orville will soon be ‘flying with the birds’. Now it’s a piece of artwork. The “Orvillecopter” is now being displayed at the St. Art Gallery – the KunstRAI Art Festival in Amsterdam. Here’s a latest video of Orvillecopter.
