Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch Quits Position, Joins Apple

Adobe’s CTO Kevin Lynch has waved his position at Adobe goodbye and has joined Apple, although it is unclear yet as to what position he is being offered at his new company.

Kevin Lynch

The news were first reported by CNBC and were initially unconfirmed by both Apple and Adobe. Eventually, though, Adobe came out with a statement which confirmed the move. Interestingly, the tone of the statement was quite friendly, which may suggest that Lynch left on a good note.

The statement from Adobe reads, “Kevin Lynch, Adobe CTO, is leaving the company effective March 22 to take a position at Apple.  We will not be replacing the CTO position; responsibility for technology development lies with our business unit heads under the leadership of Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen.  Bryan Lamkin, who has recently returned to Adobe, will assume responsibilities for cross company research and technology initiatives as well as Corporate Development.  We wish Kevin well in this new chapter of his career.”

All we know about Lynch’s new position at Apple is that he will be reporting directly to Bob Mansfield, who is the SVP of Technologies at Apple. This apparently shows that Lynch will somehow be working on the wireless and chip technologies at Apple.
