Android Reclaims Top Position In US Smartphone OS Market

We have seen mobile OS developers- iOS, Android, Windows, RIM and others- fighting for the top market position. Android lost their position during the holiday quarter. But after a long time, Android now holds almost two-thirds of the US. market. According to NPD Group’s report, Android has sold 61% of all US Smartphone.


In the last quarter of previous year, Android’s US market share was 49%. It jumped so high that in the first quarter of this year, Android’s US market share grabed 61%. On the contrary, iOS falls down from 41% to 29%. Though Apple iPhones were sold a lot during last October, Android has managed to recapture the same market share like the previous year’s third quarter.

Together, Apple and Android now hold 90% (61% + 29%) of all smartphone sales in the US smartphone overall. According to the latest research, more than 67% of young people aged from 25 to 34 have been found owning a smartphone. 50.9% of female and 50.1% of men mobile users carry a smartphone.
