The wait is finally over. For weeks, we have been waiting for the moment when the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 will be released. Pod2g achieved the untethered jailbreak many weeks ago and then he handed it over to the Chronic Dev Team and and iPhone Dev Team for further testing. And now, after all testing and integration is done, the untethered jailbreak is finally here and available publicly for download.
The untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 works on all A4 devices and lower which include iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 1. Many users on these devices hadn’t updated to iOS 5.0.1 because they were waiting for an untethered jailbreak. So if you are among those users, you can now happily update to the new iOS version. You can find a complete guide on how to update to iOS 5.0.1 here. An untethered jailbreak means that you no longer have to reboot your device through an external device every time you restart it. On the contrary, your data remains intact every time you reboot your device once your device is untethered jailbroken.
The untethered jailbreak is now available on Cydia. It has been termed ‘Corona 5.0.1 Untether.’ You can download and install it on your tethered jailbroken devices by opening the Cydia app, searching for ‘Corona’ and then installing the software. It’s quite simple.
