Google’s New Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” Launch On Monday

A few weeks ago Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that Android 2.3/Gingerbread would be here in a “few weeks.”However it looks as though the wait will soon be over,Android tablet designers Notion Ink have hinted in a blog post that we could be seeing it very soon.May be today 6th December.

From the blog:

“6th December is another big day for Android and you will find out how fast Notion Ink can work. (Eden is extremely compatible with 2.3).”

Eden is Notion Ink’s custom UI that its Adam tablet runs on, so is anyone is going to be in the loop about dates it’s going to be a manufacturer.

Tomorrow (7th of December) also sees the launch of the NFC Forum’s new Certification Program in Paris.

The specs for Notion Ink’s Adam list things like a 10-inch display and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip and a “Bonus mystery feature,” which could be an NFC chip. Although we can’t really see people paying for things in shops by swiping a tablet over a reader.

So, we’re expecting to see something Ginegrbread-shaped appearing on the horizon today or tomorrow. We expect that the Nexus One will be the first of the current Android devices to get 2.3 OTA.We’ll inform you as soon as we get update. So stay with us.

Thanks
