Android users and developers are always fervently waiting for the next Android update to launch, packing newer and better features. The next big version of Android (that is Android 5.0, also known as Android Key Lime Pie) is expected to be unveiled in May. But we may be able to lay our hands on Android 4.2.2 during this next month or the next, rumors suggest.
Android Key Lime Pie is the major upcoming update for the open-source mobile operating system. However, a number of reports hint that Google also plans to dish out an Android 4.2.2 update before it unveils Android 5.0. And that the 4.2.2 update may arrive this very month.
The International Business Times has reported that currently, Google employees are already testing out the Android 4.2.2 update on a number of Android devices, including Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus devices. The update will not bring many new features but will pack a number of security improvements and bug fixes.
The next version, Android 5.0, will take a bit longer to arrive. As is the search giant’s convention, it is expected that Google will announce Key Lime Pie at its annual developers conference which is scheduled for May. Naturally, Google’s strategy of dishing out a minor update is wise, since it will satisfy the users until the later release of Android.
