Microsoft has sold more than 630 million licenses of its current operating system, Windows 7. There is no doubt that till now, Windows 7 is the bestselling operating system in Microsoft’s history. During the annual Worldwide Partner Conference in Canada, Windows Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller has revealed the stats about Windows 7. She also said, the number of licenses sold keeps growing.
Tami Reller added, currently more than half of enterprise desktops are running on Windows 7 around the world. Details such as upgraded license percentages from Windows XP to Windows 7, best time slot of licenses sold, countrywide selling information were not revealed.
Added to that, Microsoft disclosed details on Windows 8 availability. It was confirmed that Windows 8 will come as Release to Manufacturing (RTM) on the first week of August. Ms. Reller also confirmed that Windows 8 will be available commercially from October.
