The Grand Theft Auto franchise has grown into one of the most popular ones in the gaming industry. The latest release in the franchise is the GTA V, a game that hit the shelves only two days ago. Within 24 hours of being released, GTA V was able to fetch $800 million.
Fetching such a huge sum on the very first day of its release is extra-ordinary, even for a blockbuster and much-waited game. At this rate, there’s no doubt GTA V will hit the $1 billion run within a very short time. The last game that was quickest to reach that milestone is ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.’ And it took Black Ops 2 fifteen days to achieve that $1 billion.
In simple words, the sum garnered by GTA V on the very first day of its release is the highest ever made by a game in a single day. In fact, compared to even the best of blockbuster movies, the game trumps by amassing $800 million so quickly.
However, in the case of GTA V, the total budget clocked out to be a huge $260 million. Interestingly, the voice-over of gangsters in the game have been recorded by real-life gansters. But it’s for sure that after the initial frenzy, the sales of the game will slow down.
