Apple Is Reportedly Readying Two Curved-Screen iPhones For 2014

Smartphones with curved screens have made their appearances at a number of technology events recently. However, none of them has been launched globally, which makes one doubt their prospects. Reports have it that Apple, too, is now readying two new iPhones with curved screens.

Curved-screen iPhone

Among the notable companies who have already come out with their curved-screen smartphones are Samsung and LG. Samsung unveiled Galaxy Round and to match the competition, LG came up with its very own G Flex. Both smartphones have stirred a lot of interest but it remains to be seen if curved screens can ever be a commercial success.

A Bloomberg report now claims that Apple is also working on a curved-screen smartphone of its own. The company is apparently readying two new iPhones, one featuring a 4.7-inch display and the other packing a 5.5 inch display. The displays of both rumored handsets are curved screens, claims the report, and goes on to say that Apple will release both of them in the second half of 2014.

Like smart watches, curved-screen smartphones are certainly very interesting but so far, they haven’t ruffled many feathers. Tech analysts are looking at them carefully and in all honesty, curved screen have a more practical application in smartwatches rather than in smartphones.

This latest report from Bloomberg seems really shaky since Apple tends to shy away from such fantastic dabbling. Moreover, supply-chain sources often tend to exaggerate, based on a few prototypes which the company may use simply to explore an idea. So although we’d love to believe that curved-screen iPhones are on their way, we will take this rumor with a grain of salt.
