Android 2.2 Froyo now available to all HTC Legends in Europe and Froyo will support for Flash 10.1, better performance, enhanced stability, the ability to transform your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot and save apps to your SD card and more marketplace apps…….
Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC announced via Twitter on Thursday that European users of their HTC Legend device are now able to update the operating system of their smartphones to Android FroYo (also called version 2.2).This follows the European updates provided to the HTC Hero in June, as well as the HTC Desire in August.
South Africans have yet to officially receive over-the-air updates for their HTC devices with MTN only recently announcing that HTC Desire handset owners could look forward to upgrades on 17 December 2010.Some users of South African HTC Desire smartphones have reported receiving updates from Android Éclair (or version 2.1) to FroYo on their devices on the Vodacom, MTN and Cell C networks.
This may have allowed users to download the operating system update from international servers as many sources have reported a minimum firmware version requirement of 1.21 to upgrade from Éclair to FroYo. The firmware version is different from the operating system version. While MTN said that HTC Desire handsets on its network would be updated on 17 December, the yellow network added that other HTC devices such as the HTC Legend could only expect updates in 2011.
