Archos was making touchscreen PMPs cool well before the iPod touch debuted.Now archos is reported that it’s being preparing a new “gen-8” Android tablet lineup for a Fall 2010 launch.
Spec-wise, the Gen 8 will boast a 3.2-inch, 400 x 240 display driven by an ARM Cortex A8 CPU and powered by Android 2.1, and 8GB of included storage. Other specs include USB 2.0 connectivity, composite video out, a microphone, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth.
Additional specs include:
* 800MHz ARM Cortex A8-based CPU.
* OpenGL support.
* 802.11b/g/n WiFi/Bluetooth.
* USB.
* Accelerometer, camera and mic.
* Support for various audio and video codecs, such as MP4, H.264, WMV, MOV, 3GP, MKV, FLV, OGG Vorbis, FLAC and AAC.
* H.264 HD (HP@L3.1 up to 720p, 24fps@7Mbps).
The price for the smallish tablet is pegged at $150.
