Yesterday, Microsoft has taken to Reddit to respond to users’ queries regarding its upcoming Surface Pro tablet. During the Reddit session, a Microsoft spokesperson has hinted some interesting developments. These include the possibility of a battery-charging cover for the slate and a whole range of accessories which would connect through the connector at the bottom.
What has rather piqued our interest is that Surface Pro packs two connectors. One at the side which is used to charge up the tablet; and another at the bottom about which Microsoft hasn’t been very clear. The connector at the bottom includes extra points of contact and thus, it can be used to carry a stronger current to the tablet.
During the Reddit conversation, Microsoft deemed the bottom connector an ‘accessory spine.’ According to the company’s spokesperson, “At launch we talked about the “accessory spine” and hinted at future peripherals that can click in and do more. Those connectors look like can carry more current than the pogo pins, don’t they?”
Clearly, Microsoft plans on developing a range of accessories which would connect to the Surface Pro tablet through the bottom connector. In fact, certain hints were cited, indicating that the company may even ready a cover for the tablet which could be used to recharge its battery.
However, the spokesperson didn’t exactly state what the company had in store for us. So we are hoping that once the slate becomes available later this week, we may be able to get more details from Microsoft.
