Quite often, we come across such tweets on Twitter which are simply hilarious or too amusing. And we can’t help but want to share them with others, not only on the micro-blogging site but elsewhere too. To help in this, Twitter has now added support for sending tweets via email.
Sending tweets through email is not exactly a new feature. It is already being offered by a number of third-party Twitter apps such as Hootsuite and Tweetdeck. However, Twitter has only now added it as an official feature to its own website.
The feature can be used by hitting the ‘More’ button which is positioned right next to the regular ‘Reply’, ‘Retweet’ and ‘Favorite’ buttons. Currently, the feature is available to a limited number of users and will be rolled out to the rest of Twitter users in the coming days.
Explaining the reason why Twitter decided to introduce this feature, Twitter engineer Stefan Flip writes, “Of course, you can retweet any of these to your Twitter followers, but sometimes you want to share with another group, like your college roommates or your parents or a friend who isn’t yet on Twitter.”
Although this is not too significant a feature for most Twitter users, it can prove quite handy to those who have to regularly engage with breaking news. That is because tweets via email can help spread the word faster among a non-Twitter audience.
