Study Says Watching Virtual People Doing Exercise Can Help You Lose Weight

To lose weight or fattiness, one has no option but doing exercise. Interestingly, a new study has suggested that watching virtual people doing exercise could help you lose a few pounds of your weight.

Exercise

In psychology, there’s a term called “social cognitive theory.” According to this theory when good things happen to people because they behaved a certain way, observers are more likely to imitate that behavior, especially if the observer and the observed look alike. Based on this idea, a group of researchers at Stanford University made an avatar that looked similar to each woman in a group of eight. The women were told watch videos of their avatar doing exercise and they did that. Four weeks later, researchers found, all the eight women lost a modest average weight of 3.5 pounds.

Well three and a half pounds might not sound that impressive, but the process could lead to more weight loss. However, the researchers study has been published in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology.
