Kodak In Favor Again In The Legal Battle With Apple & RIM

Kodak granted reprieve in its ITC battle with Apple and RIM and after reviewing the decision per the parties’ request, the Commission changed a few of the ALJ’s patent claim interpretations and remanded the case for fresh analysis regarding both infringement and validity. Kodak is painting the remand as a victory and Kodak’s infringement claims against RIM primarily center on technology for creating a still image during preview on a camera’s LCD display………..

Microsoft, Apple, Ericsson, RIM, Sony and EMC – The Whole Consortium Outbids Google Of Nortel Telecommunications Patents

Nortel Networks announced that it had sold its juggernaut patent portfolio to a consortium made up of the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and RIM for a hefty sum of $4.5 billion cash and Sony, Ericsson, and EMC will now have access to more than 6,000 patents that relate to all manner of technologies, including 4G LTE wireless capabilities, Wi-Fi, semiconductors, and social networking. Each company in the consortium could have paid $750 million each, significantly less than Google’s original $900 million bid and it is not clear if each company contributed equally or will equally share in ownership of the patents in question………….

Apple iPad Reaches 100,000 Apps Landmark

Apple has what is clearly the top tablet on the market with the iPad and here are more than 100,000 iPad-specific apps on sale in the App Store. It took Apple 452 days to surpass the 100,000 iPad app mark to land at 100,161 dedicated iPad apps and the milestone comes a little over a year after Apple unveiled the original iPad. The AppStore is now becoming one of Apple’s prized possessions in terms of digital downloads and with the current growth of the iPad, it would be no surprise to see a 200,000 app milestone soon……….

[Report] Apple Plans to Ship 12-14m iPad 2 in Next Quarter

Few reports have emerged from Digitimes which says that Apple will be increasing the shipment of iPad 2 in the next quarter. Reports suggests that Apple is planning to ship 12M to 14M iPad 2 in the next quarter, while earlier reports indicated that Apple is shipping 7M-9M units till March.

Apple to drop Samsung in favor of a Taiwanese components manufacturer as its primary components supplier and with Samsung currently producing the A5 dual core processor for Apple, it is likely that the company would continue to supply parts till the contract period ends.
