According to Guardian report, independent researchers Pete Warden, a former Apple employee, and Alasdair Allan, a data visualisation scientist, announced that they’ve explored a file hidden inside iOS backups which appears to track the location of the device going back as far as the installation of iOS 4.
United States Patent and Trademark office finally awarded Apple with design patents related to iPhone 4 and iPod touch 2007 model. Included in the batch are iOS Maps and Compass app design patents, a patent for the iPhone 4’s stainless steel band and another one for reducing wait times in call centers. However, the most interesting patent from the group appears to allow a touch display to act as a space-saving RFID tag reader.

@chpwn has just tweeted that Apple, in an attempt to stop the backing up of SHSH blobs (used for things like downgrading and restoring), has blocked Amazon’s datacentre from accessing their SHSH servers. But @saurik has posted an update to his Twitter account that the SHSH saving issue was actually a coding SNAFU and not Apple blocking access to his servers.
According to Wall Street Journal Apple has sued Samsung Electronics for copying “the look and feel” of its iPad tablet and iPhone smartphones. The lawsuit claims several of Samsung’s smartphones and tablet — the Galaxy S 4G, Epic 4G, Nexus S and the Galaxy Tab — copy Apple’s intellectual property.
With the popularity of iPad 2 Apple is looking to add another LED backlight maker to its list of manufacturers used to produce parts for the new tablet. According to Digitimes, Apple is now testing a new LED backlight maker called Everlight Electronics in order to expand their component supply for the iPad 2.
According to TechCrunch report, Mobile payments company Square has landed a deal to get its Credit Card Reader on the online Apple Store and in Apple retail stores starting this week. Apple will start selling Square devices in all of its U.S. retail stores starting this week.
