Apple has shown interest in creating a new Maps application for the iPhone and other iOS devices that would exaggerate some details, like roads or landmarks to make navigation easier to follow and a patent shows that Apple’s maps will simplify things to the user by providing the most relevant information in the given situation. Coincidentally this seems to go with Apple’s overall design philosophy and the patent is called Schematic Maps, which first determines the amount of screen real estate that is available to the user………….

Vudu Starts Movie Streaming Service To iPad

Vudu has started streaming movies to PCs over the web, it’s moving to the iPad as well but what is surprising is the decision to stream over the web and forego a dedicated app. This approach lets the Wal-mart-owned video delivery company avoid the restrictions of Apple’s app store and any additional fees. Vudu is eschewing a dedicated app for an in-browser experience, though you can add a button to the home screen of the Apple tablet to launch the site and from there you can stream over 20,000 different movies or TV episodes……………

Amazon releases web-based Kindle Cloud Reader app, which is optimized for iPads and compatible with both Chrome and Safari, the new app is essentially a browser version of the Kindle eBook reader, providing PC, Mac and Chromebook users with access to their digitized libraries. The tool also offers local storage, allowing for offline reading, though Amazon’s device limit still applies and this cloud reader is unveils with relatively little fanfare or explanation, but its site highlights the service’s main attractions, including its iPad optimization. The cloud application is based on HTML5 and optimizes the reading device or computer being used, even though the book can be read instantly, it is still stored locally for offline reading……………

Fusion-io Is Collaborating With NVIDIA To Accelerate Entertainment Production

Fusion-io , a provider of a next-generation shared data decentralization platform, announced its participation in the SIGGRAPH 2011 international conference on computer graphics and interactive technologies. Fusion-io is collaborating with a number of leading technology companies, including NVIDIA, Thinkbox Software and Tweak Software, to accelerate entertainment production. According to engadget a relatively stock HP Z800 workstation was loaded with the NVIDIA QuadroPlex 7000 Visual Computing System (that’s four GPUs, for those counting) in order to push four HD panels. A pair of Fusion-io’s ioDrive Duos were pushing a total of three gigabytes per second, enabling all 12 of the feeds to cycle through with nary a hint of lag. Apple Quietly Rolled Out Low Cost iMac Designed For Education Institutions

Apple has been known to offer education exclusive machines for schools and it seems they have stayed true to the practice with the recent launch of a 21-inch iMac for $999. The cheaper iMac is designed for education institutions only, which means individuals cannot purchase the computer at the discounted rate and the new model sports a 3.1ghz i3, 2 gigs of ram and 250 gigs of hard drive space. Apple currently plans on launching the iMac on 16th of August, that date could change though not by much and expect launch of the device near the middle to end of August…………
