Nokia has been trying hard to push its Lumia lineup of smartphones into the limelight. Although the company has dished out a few excellent Lumia handsets in the later part of 2012, they are far from mainstream. In total, Nokia was able to sell 4.4 million Lumia devices during the fourth quarter of 2012.
Skype has, for long, withstood the pressure from governments all around the world demanding it to reveal user conversations. In fact, some time back, Skype even boasted that its architecture is such that it can’t even do so even if it tried. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore and Skype refuses to reveal whether or not it is cooperating with governments in order to reveal user conversations.
Microsoft has repeatedly cited that such devices which are currently running Windows Phone 7.5 wouldn’t be eligible for a Windows Phone 8 upgrade. The company did promise that it would release Windows Phone 7.8 for such devices. The good news is that the Windows Phone 7.8 update is probably arriving on January 31.
