According to a recent research, Apple will continue an excellent sales profile into the year 2012. The research says that in 2012, the overall sales of iPhone devices will reach 116.4 million whereas that of iPad devices will reach 55 million. These sales figure predict that Apple will sell 20 million more iPhone devices in 2012 than it did in 2011. This increase in expected sales is largely a result of an excellent sales profile Apple maintained through the last quarter of 2011.
The research has been carried out by Michael Walkley who works with Canaccord Genuity. According to Walkley, Apple sold about 12 million iPhone devices in US alone during the final quarter of 2011 and that iPhone 4S was the top-selling devices with three main carriers AT &T, Sprint and Verizon.
Even outside US, iPhone devices have seen a major sales boast in recent times, especially in Brazil and Russia. And now as Apple plans to launch iPhone 4S in China, millions of devices have already been booked in advance while customers are frantically waiting for the launch. Once iPhone 4S is launched in China, it will bring a huge sales cut to Apple, boasting it’s overall sales by a significant number.
On the iPad front, Walkley said that Apple’s iPad sales topped about 38.1 million by the end of 2011. In 2012, he projects Apple to be selling a total of 55 million iPad devices.
A reason for concern for Apple may be that in Walkley projections, Amazon will do an excellent job with it’s Kindle Fire in 2012 and the sales of the device with see a steady growth. The overall market share of Kindle Fire, according to the report, will increase from 6.2 percent to 10.3 percent. However, iPad will still lead the way with a large margin.
