Arem Duplessis has been a part of New York Times’ magazine design team for almost a decade. Now, the heavy-weight has been tapped by Apple and is poised to join the tech giant by February.
Apple has a fairly stellar design team already but the company seems to be expanding it now. Duplessis has worked on NYT’s magazine covers for a long time, creating some of the best covers for the magazine during the past decade.
While overlooking the design team at NYT, he grabbed an Emmy award back in 2012 for creating a video series on renowned actors playing villains. Moreover, under him as the design director, the design team of the magazine snagged ‘Design Team of the Year’ title for three years in a row.
Apple hasn’t exactly revealed the position that Duplessis will occupy once he switches, although it has been vaguely hinted that he will be a part of the company’s internal marketing team. That can mean a whole lot of things, so it’s best to wait for further details from Apple or Duplessis before making any speculations.
Commenting on switching to Apple after such a long and illustrous career with NYT, Duplessis stated, “I have worked with some of the smartest people on the planet and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I feel very fortunate to have been able to experience such a great gig. With that said, it’s time for a new chapter and a new challenge.”
