It has been a year since Google branded its apps marketplace into a single, consolidated Google Play store. Celebrating its firth birthday, Google has now announced a whole week of awesome deals, discounts and other goodies for Google Play users.
As part of the festivities that will continue for one whole week, Google is offering special deals on all sorts of content, ranging from movies to books, magazines, TV shows and much more.
In an official announcement commemorating the occasion, the company stated, “It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content. Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts.”
As part of the special deals, for instance, you can get a 10% discount with Hotels.com, free $15 gift card as well as free shipping within the U.S. and up to 50% discount on in-game offers. Moreover, the company is offering a whole range of movie rentals for a mere $0.99 and free music from the likes of The Velvet Underground.
Needless to state, the occasion may not be very significant for Google Play users but the great deals to go with it are certainly very enticing. Ever since its launch, the Google Play store has registered excellent growth, especially due to the rapid growth in the Android audience. And this growth is expected to continue well into the future.
