Bitcoin is a digital currency that does not need a bank and can be used as payment for some transactions. It is a digital currency people can use for personal transactions or business at high speed and low cost. That’s not all. People now even can use Bitcoin to buy 50 Cent‘s new album ‘Animal Ambition‘.
Rapper 50 Cent wants a good sales ratio of this album. So he is trying to take all comers and hence has started accepting Bitcoin too as payment for buying the album.
50 Cent is selling the Animal Ambition album online via Shopify, which introduced Bitcoin payments as an electable option in late 2013. Shopify in turn uses Bitpay as a processor. So, it can be said that 50 Cent is helping Bitpay grow its userbase.
Tony Gallippi, the executive chairman of Bitcoin payment service provider Bitpay, said in a statement, “Technology is what’s changing the business gotta get with it. We’re trying to be ahead of the curve and do new things. We are excited to see high-profile independent artists use bitcoin and 50 Cent’s trail as an innovator is outstanding.”
However, using Bitcoins, 50 Cent’s fans can buy his fifth album from shop.50cent.com. Bitpay is handling transactions and Jackson’s G-Unit Records will convert bitcoin payments into cash.
While the partnership is Bitpay’s first arrangement with a 50, it may be a beginning of a new trend. Now it’s time to see if Bitcoin could bump up the sales of 50 Cent’s Animal Ambition album.
