Toshiba ANT-Series Android 3.0 Tablets Delayed

Toshiba’s upcoming Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS-based 10.1-inch tablet device is called Toshiba ANT and a new report from Toshiba in the UK Ken Chan told RegHardware that the Toshiba Tablet, known as Toshiba ANT-100 in product databases for some online retailers, will be coming this Summer but around the end of season.The listed models are the $450 ANT-100 with 8GB of data storage capacity, 16GB ANT-102 for $500, and 32GB ANT-104 with a $580 price tag.Designed primarily for entertainment, the tablets sport a 1280 x 800 (720p) multitouch widescreen display, the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz mobile processor that delivers 1080p video playback capability, 802.11n wireless and Bluetooth connections, and a battery life rated at 7 hours with the standard user-replaceable 6-cell battery.Toshiba’s ANT has a 2-megapixel front-facing webcam and 5MP rear camera with autofocus, stereo speakers, a GPS receiver, accelerometer, and compass.Ports include an HDMI connector, full-size USB and a mini USB, while for data storage expansion there’s an SD card slot.

 

First unveiled at CES 2011 the Toshiba Tablet had lots of promise with features tablets at the time did not have but the unique features for the tablet have begun to dwindle month by month as more Android 3.0 tablets come to market. At this time the tablet has a full-sized USB port and the easy to remove rechargeable battery going for it over other Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets.It has Easy Grip finish and supports backplate interchangeability, allowing users to customize look of the slate.Regarding software, the tablet-optimized Android version in this case includes built-in Toshiba Place (marketplace) application, complementing the Android Market. According to the product description on Amazon, the device supports Adobe Flash.With the delay Toshiba could make some changes to those specifications, at this time the cause for the delay hasn’t been made available. By the time that Toshiba launches this tablet the internal hardware components available for tablets could have changed drastically.
