Valve Software is widely accustomed to public speculation. But now, Valve Software has set the world of gaming news abuzz by attempting to hire hardware engineers. Not only that but also Valve developer Michael Abrash has revealed a hardware prototype which is a wearable computer technology.

HTC is preparing to launch an entry level device code named HTC Golf. The HTC Golf will be a new addition to the HTC One series phones after HTC One X, One S and One V. Although an official announcement from HTC has not came yet, some press images of the device has been leaked. Another sample image which was taken by the HTC Golf’s five-megapixel main camera is also moving around the web.

Apple has been quite fast in moving from one build of OS X 10.7.4 to another, although it is still in beta. Now, Apple has started seeding the third beta build of OS X 10.7.4 to the developers. The build is numbered 11E46 and has asked the developers to focus on a number of features such as QuickTime, graphics, mail, screen sharing, App Store and Time Machine.

Retina Display is a term which Apple first made popular when it started using it for its new iPad which comes with ultra-high resolution. We have been hearing that the Mac machines from Apple are also about to get a resolution boost in their upcoming line-up. Now, Intel Vice President has stated that Intel’s much-touted and much-anticipated Ivy Bridge processor are built for ‘Retina Display’ computers, shall OEMs choose to use it.

With the meteoric rise in the fortunes and fame of Apple and its products, its antique products have also seen a huge bump in their value. We posted earlier about a 1984 Macintosh 128k machine which was eventually sold for a whooping $3,519. And now, another Macintosh machine has surfaced on eBay, this time the extremely rate edition that came with a Twiggy disk drive. The seller has stated the starting price for bidding at $99,995.

Life had been calm for Mac users when suddenly we were told that a certain Java exploit was being used by a Flashback Trojan to infect hundreds of thousands of Macs. Apple was prompt to respond and stated that it was working on a tool to counter this security threat. Now, Apple has released the software update which, it claims, can adequately take care of the Flashback Trojan.

It is interesting to note how some very crucial security vulnerabilities in software are found a little too late. For instance, Samba just announced that it has now patched a remote code execution exploit which was present in all versions of Samba between 3.0.x and 3.6.3. This essentially means that this vulnerability is at least five years old since Samba released the 3.0.25 version as back as 2007.

We reported a while ago that a certain malware named Flashback Trojan had made silent encroaches into Apple machines around the world and was able to infect some 600,000 Macs around the globe. Now, we have been told that Apple is working on a tool that will be able to detect the malware and then remove it from the user’s machine.

A group of scientists consisting of multinational team members from University of Southern California (USC), Delft University of Technology, Iowa State University and the University of California (Santa Barbara) has shown a prototype of a quantum computer inside a diamond, ‘the first of its kind to include protection against “decoherence” – noise that prevents the computer from functioning.’

Google launched its Chrome OS on the premise that people want to get away from a Windows-like interface and wish for a quicker access to browsing and other applications. However, apparently the concept hasn’t really pitched with the users, as is evident from the rather non-existent success of Chrome OS. Now, Google has shipped out the first major update of the OS, which makes it look a lot like Windows.

Microsoft has attempted in the past to make the user-interface for Windows-using devices even more easier for average users at homes. This is to enable them easier navigation by making things less technical. Microsoft Bob was one such project, which failed in the past. Now, the company has similar plans with its Project HomeOS.
