Google Wallet didn’t gain a lot of traction when it was launched. After it added support for all major credit and debit cards through cloud, it has taken the Google Wallet to a new direction. Now, the Google Wallet support page suggests that it is working on a physical Wallet card and trying to bring a non-NFC version of the app to every Android 2.3+ device.
Physical Wallet card is designed to help users channel all their credit and debit cards into a single card which can be used instead of a handful of other payment methods. The cards linked to the single Wallet card will be manageable through the updated app, all without going through the carriers. At present, Google Wallet is available on the following devices on select carriers.
- Samsung Nexus S 4G on Sprint
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Sprint
- Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE on Sprint
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM/HSPA+ (available for purchase on Google Play)
- Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint, MetroPCS, and US Cellular
- LG Viper™ 4G LTE on Sprint
- LG Optimus Elite™ on Sprint and Virgin Mobile
- HTC EVO 4G LTE on Sprint
- Asus Nexus 7 Tablet (WiFi only) (available for purchase on Google Play)
- Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE on Sprint
It means the Android devices with an operating system of Android 2.3.3 or higher will be able to download the Google Wallet app to use with the Google Wallet Card.
