You may have often seen that words with offensive connotations or related to obscenity are presented with a lot of asterisks so that they are not fully visible. This is often in many formal platforms. However, does ‘jailbreak’ also fall under the same category and should receive the same treatment? Apple sure thinks so.

Jailbreaking Apple devices has been accomplished over time through a combination of clever hacks and persistent attempts by some notable iOS hackers. However, every time Apple rolls out a firmware update, it puts at risk the jailbroken devices. Because updating a jailbroken device can render the jailbreak of that device null and void.
iPhone Dev Team has been pretty efficient in rolling out newer versions and updates for its iOS unlocking software tool, RedSn0w. Only recently, we reported the release of RedSn0w version 0.9.10b7 and now, the team has released an update to the tool, touted as version 0.9.10b8 which comes with the ability to enable users to save iPhone unlock tickets.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to Jailbreak your iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1. Before you proceed to actual tutorial, keep in mind that this is tethered jailbreak which means that you will need to connect your iPhone with your Mac computer and re-run RedSn0w to boot your iPhone 4 into fully operational state every time your iPhone loses power. Also let me note that this Jailbreak will not work on iPhone 4S and that iBooks will not work correctly until iPhone Dev-Team implement a patch that will fix this.
