[Tutorial] How To Organize Multiple Inboxes In Gmail

There is a very useful feature inside Gmail which lets you to see multiple views of your inbox on once screen and it’s called Multiple Inboxes. Add extra lists of emails in your inbox to see even more important email at once. The new lists of threads can be labels, your starred messages, drafts or any search you want, configurable under Settings. In this tutorial I will show you how to activate this features and how to use it in your Gmail account.


To get started follow steps below

Step 1: Login into your Gmail account and from top right corner of your screen click gear icon

Step 2: From dropdown menu click on Settings

Step 4: Now choose Labs tab

Step 5: From the available Labs list locate Multiple Inboxes, select Enable next to this app and click Save Changes

Step 6: When you return to your inbox you will notice three panel view by default. To make changes to this default view, repeat above Step 1, Step 2 and then select Multiple Inboxes tab

Step 7: Default view have two panels which include starred and drafts, however you can change these views and add any other panel you like.

Use below list to find out how to set labels and filters

label:foo – Shows only messages with a specific label

label:foo label:bar – Shows messages labeled both “foo” and “bar”

label:foo OR label:bar – Shows messages labeled either “foo” or “bar”

is:unread – Shows only unread messages

is:starred – Shows only starred messages

is:chat – Shows only archived Gmail chat sessions

is:sent – Shows your outbox, or only e-mails you’ve sent
