Although Microsoft’s Kinect and the Oculus Rift hardware were both meant for the gaming world, they have found a use in more advanced industries. NASA, for instance, is using both of these components in controlling space-bound robots.
Software giant Microsoft unveiled its new Kinect sensor as part of its Xbox One event. Microsoft has developed its Kinect sensor and now XBox One Kinect camera can see through clothes and detect every part of anatomy.
Microsoft’s Kinect is currently considered the most successful commercial motion-tracking hardware. But researchers at MIT have devised a motion-tracking technology that is able to track people through walls and hence may defeat Kinect.
When Microsoft released the original Kinect for Xbox 360, hackers were able to tweak it and plug it into their PCs before soon. However, such liberties won’t be possible with the next-generation Kinect that will arrive with Xbox One, says Microsoft.
Last year in May, Microsoft released Kinect SDK for Windows version 1.5. Long time passed, but Microsoft hasn’t released any update to that version, which people have been waiting for long time. Finally, the waiting is over. Microsoft has announced that it would release an update to the Kinect SDK for Windows on Monday, March 18.
Microsoft has been bringing a lot of limelight to its motion-control Kinect hardware. In the past, the company has shown off how Kinect may be used in collaboration with Windows and now, Microsoft has revealed Kinect’s hand recognition, which looks quite impressive.
Microsoft’s new Xbox game console is expected to arrive in the later part of this year. Although the name of the console is as yet unconfirmed, many have taken to calling it Xbox 720, which kind of makes sense. Now, hints from developers and Microsoft’s patents suggest that the console will ship with Kinect which will be ‘watching’ you at all times.
