CyanogenMod is one of the most popular hacked and customized Android-based ROM. Android being an open-source software, fans have been tweaking with it and there are a number of custom ROMs out there. But CyanogenMod has been the most popular and widely-used of these ROMs. Now, it has been found out that the total installs of this custom ROM have reached a massive figure of 2 million merely months after it crossed 1 million!
This remarkable number seems fairly understandable since Google’s Android platform has been growing at a massive scale. Millions of news users are being added to the Android user base every month. And it is only inevitable that a certain percentage of these users would want to use custom Android ROM on their devices. Naturally, they choose CyanogenMod.
One of the remarkable things about CyanogenMod is that it has been able to tweak the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich so that it fits in quite perfectly with what a user wants. Currently, the latest version of this ROM that is being used is version 9. The team behind this ROM also has an entire community which helps them test-run newer builds and then launch these builds when they are satisfied with the results.
We have been hearing about Google’s plans of releasing a newer version of Android, JellyBean, this year. And if it so happens, let’s be ready for another exciting CyanogenMod release too.
