Halo: Reach Pushes Xbox 360 To The Limit

The creative director of Halo: Reach has confirmed that the game will push the Xbox 360 to the limits of its current processing capabilities.

“We are taking every advantage of everything on the CPU and GPU, and every bit of memory in order to produce the look of Reach beyond anything of Halo 3,” Marcus Lehto told Edge.

“We’re pushing it as far as we can go. With every iteration we understand what more we can exploit with the hardware.”

Meanwhile, community director Brian Jarrard explained that Halo: Reach will feature an improved AI for additional replay value.

“The AI system is super robust, and is taken for granted as a rich simulation. Everything is simulated, nothing is bolted down,” said Jarrard.

“You can throw a grenade in a room and it’s all physically simulated. Even in our giant environments you see films in which someone will throw a grenade and it will send a Warthog flying through the air and it’ll kill someone on the other side of the map.”

Great, as if my Jet Powered Fan cooled 360 isn’t stressed enough. Maybe MS do this on purpose so we all go and buy fresh consoles and boost sales numbers to brag at Sony

Talking of which, I wonder how many consoles MS would have sold if there wasn’t the RROD problem

The way Reach is shaping up, I can’t see it being anything other than GOTY. Its gonna have gigantic battles that feature a large amount of replayablity, top-notch graphics, killer features(forge, theatre), proven gameplay, great multiplayer and the best incarnation of vehicles featured in any FPS so far.

Just think of how many game modes theres gonna be:
    Campaign,
    Matchmaking,
    Custom Games,
    Firefight,
    Forge,
    Theatre,
And the Super Secret Awesome new game mode.
