Comcast iOS app release wireless DVR control Xfinity remote app for your iPad and iPhone.Xfinity is video streaming app for iOS devices…..
Watching and controlling On Demand TV content on-the-go is getting even easier, at least if you’re a Comcast customer. The cable provider is launching the Xfinity TV App for iPad.Also compatible with the iPhone (3G, 3GS or 4) and the iPod touch (2nd, 3rd or 4th generation), the app basically turns your iOS device into one big remote control.Users can search regular TV and On Demand content, change the channel, set DVR recordings, and create a list of favorite programs – all from their mobile touch screens.
Subscribers will also be able to watch Xfinity TV content directly on the iPad.Technical requirements include a minimum of iOS 4, a compatible cable/set-top box for DVR control, a Comcast ID and an Internet connection. Conveniently, the last one can either be 3G or Wi-Fi.The Xfinity TV app will be available to download from the iTunes App Store this week for free. An Android version is coming soon.

I love the idea of mobile streaming media! Unfortunately, this particular app does not allow live TV streamed outside of your home. I work for DISH Network and I have been using their Remote Access app to stream not only live TV anywhere, but also all of my DVR recordings that are at home. DISH Network uses Sling Technology to dominate the streaming TV market!
The “resume” play feature needs to be debugged. You get a blank screen half the time, and then there is no way to reset the movie selection.
Uh, well yes the app is a great idea but it only works in certain Comcast/Xfinity areas. For example in VA it works in Richmond but not in surrounding areas. The reason? Fairly simple, the bandwidth required is not there on the Comcast non fibre optic network. It does not work unless you have Comcast Internet and TV packages but as you can imagine, the bandwidth for that sort of traffic is impossible on coax cable. So basically it is a scam.
