The Motorola Devour, officially announced on Wednesday, will be available on Verizon Wireless starting in March. Motorola’s latest Android powered in Motoblur smartphone called the Motorola Devour.Capacitive touchscreen display checked. Touch navigation pad on-board. Pre-loaded applications such as Gmail, GTalk, YouTube, Google Search, Google Maps and of course direct access to Android market – pretty cool. Plus you’d also get the usual Motorola and Verizon mobile phone features.
Verizon is offering it through various plans such as Nationwide Talk plans for $39.99 monthly access, Nationwide Talk & Text plans at $59.99 monthly access and an unlimited data package access that will cost you $29.99 monthly.
Verizon Wireless has a second handset from Motorola Inc. that uses Google Inc.’s Android software: The Devour.
The Devour has a 3.1-inch, 320-by-480 pixel touchscreen. The resolution is comparable to the iPhone but lower than the Droid, which boasts a 3.7-inch, 480-by-854 pixel display. While specifics about the Devour’s processor have yet to be revealed, the phone is expected to be more of a midrange Android option compared to Droid’s higher-end status. It’s rumored to run on the Qualcomm 600-MHz MSM7627.
The Devour also features Motoblur, a software package from Motorola that displays e-mails and content from such sites as Twitter and Facebook on one screen. Motorola’s Cliq, which launched through T-Mobile USA last year, also used Motoblur, but the Droid did not.
Motorola, for its part, sees Android-powered smart phones as the way out of a deep multiyear sales slump. It has said it plans to launch about 20 models this year, of which the Devour would be the first.
